We offer a range of sporting opportunities led by specialist coaches.
Sport is an integral part of a pupil’s experience at Highgate, providing time for physical wellbeing, skills, and character development.
With 35 specialist teachers and coaches, and access to a wide range of facilities, our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire every pupil. We strongly believe in pupil choice; enabling Sixth Formers to find a sport they enjoy and feel personally invested in, will help them maintain an active lifestyle in their adult life.

PARTICIPATION
Our sport curriculum aims to maximise participation, promote enjoyment and ensure progression. Sixth formers have one afternoon a week devoted to the sport of their choice. With 23 pathways to choose from, pupils can develop their confidence and competence in whichever discipline they feel suits them as an individual.
At Highgate, we advocate for equality in co-educational sport. Our Highgate Her Way campaign, which focuses on female health, aims to close the gender gap in sport. The project is energised by a team of impassioned sixth formers, male and female, who champion education and participation across the school.
ACHIEVEMENT
Highgate has a busy sports programme, with over 1000 external, fixtures, competitions, tours and events throughout the year. Over 50% of our Sixth Form pupils compete in competitive sport, across 12 different disciplines, alongside our many pupils who simply enjoy playing a sport and keeping fit.
Our High-Performance Programme provides a bespoke support system for our elite athletes, offering one-to-one and mentor support to navigate the challenges of training/competition programmes alongside school life.
Internally, there is a full schedule of House sporting events throughout the year, with pupils competing to earn points for the popular Charley Cup competition.
