A few days after Bonfire Night, the Camden Assembly experienced its own fireworks when some of Highgate’s best bands took to the stage in front of an enthusiastic audience made up of fellow pupils and parents. A series of brilliant acts, covering a wide range of different styles and genres from rap to rock ‘n roll, via grime, had the crowd on its feet from beginning to end.
There was a great line-up, including a riveting performance of ‘Chandelier’ (Sia) by Sarah Baaziz and Joseph Lever; new songs by singer-songwriters Gabriella Chester, Hannah De Leuw and Ruby Anderson, and producer Alex Jones, bands including established rock band Room 6, the Bam Pots, the Y9 Band, Breakaway (who played covers of ‘Viva la Vida’ by Coldplay and ‘Countin’ Stars’ by One Republic) and Highgate’s very own Hip Hop Collective who played their own material: a hip-hop track called ‘There for you’ and two grime tracks, ‘Relax’ and ‘Frauds’.

A huge amount of work had clearly gone into rehearsing for the night. It was a great success and a real showcase for the quality and variety of Highgate’s musical talent.
