What is weird about the word weird? Can we criticise your spelling of criticise? How conscientious are you about writing conscientious? These were just some of the words to test the finalists in our Junior School House Spelling last week.

Our annual competition saw pupils from each house compete in preliminary events, with the top two for each house from Years 3 and 4, and from Years 5 and 6, going to the final. Watched by other pupils and staff, our finalists then tackled words like argument and resilience (Year 3), temperature and environment (Year 4), hierarchy and archaeology (Year 5), and unbelievable and fluorescent (Year 6).

Congratulations to all who took part, especially our Year 3 and 4 winners from Lime and Year 5 and 6 winners from Oak.
