6E were the first of our four Year 6 classes to attend Sky Academy Studios in Isleworth this week to create a special news report on their chosen topic, linked to our school’s sustainability focus, on the effect of plastic in our oceans. Having been allocated individual roles such as Director, Producer, Editor, Reporter, Camera Operator and Script Writer, the group had researched some interesting facts and information which they were then able to compile into a news report in Sky’s specialist studios. The end result was a professional looking news segment which would not have looked out of place on Sky’s News Channel.

Whilst at Sky, the class were shown around the Sky Sports News Studios, getting to stand in the Monday Night Football studio as well as peering through the glass partition at the sky sports journalists planning, editing and filming for Sky Sports News. A particular highlight of the day was a visit from Sky Sports pundit and ex Liverpool FC legend, Jamie Carragher, who came along to introduce himself to the class and answer some questions.          PS
